Role Models these days

Who was your role model growing up? That one person you could really look up to. Was it your dad maybe, or your mom? It may have been a super hero, but for most kids these days its celebrities. All the little girls want to like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. The boys look up to Lil’ Wayne and Tyga. They have lifes of luxury and fame, but who are your kids really looking up to?

Justin Beiber, for example, is America’s teen heart throb. Yet, it was sited that his tour bus was searched in Sweden. Not only did they find drugs, but a stun gun as well. If the average Joe were to be in the same circumstances, he would have been charged and looked down upon by society.

Rihanna is another example of Modern role model. She lets little girls everywhere think its ok to dress provacitively, allow abuse, and act obsene. She has videos including bondage scenes and walls painted with the word “slut”. When did this become “ok” with society? When did it become common for 12 year olds to dress in practicly nothing?

We could sit here and play the blame game all day long or we could look at ourselves? What kind of morals do I have? What kin of morals do I want my son or daughter to have? We may not act or dress the same as these celebrities, but are we allowing our children to dress and act like them?
